“Closing the Gap Between the Emotional Stakeholder and the Profitable Stakeholder”

WORKSHOP DESIGN + STRATEGY + FACILITATION

ROLE

Design Strategist, Facilitator, Workshop Development, Copywriting.

OBJECTIVE

We collaborated as a team to create and implement a workshop designed for a local community organization in Savannah, Georgia. Through theory examination, our workshop was developed through readings exploring creativity as a taught method, upbringing and experiences effects on a person, and finally ways in which facilitation or teaching can benefit a group. We then took this information and applied the theory to the creation and execution of a workshop design.

SOLUTION

We designed a workshop, after several iterations and test runs, for our clients that will help them isolate issues and develop ways for them to tackle solutions towards a larger goal of reigniting passion and creativity within the organization. We hoped that by rediscovering their emotional connection to the venue, our clients will ideally be more compelled to implement the results created within the workshop.

PROCESS

We began the process through readings and in class discussions surrounding topics such as nature vs. nurture, creativity, intuition, case studies and more. These readings, as well as assessments of our own personalities: weaknesses, strengths; and the techniques library created by the Open University were used to create several iterations of workshops. These workshops were then tested with peers prior to our chosen clients in order to asses weaknesses and revise the design. Ultimately, the goal of the workshop was for the clients to feel comfortable being creative within their organization. Then, to take the ideas or solutions developed during the workshop and put them into action for implementation.

For the full process book please see here. This document highlights key learnings from the readings, workshop design and run throughs, client workshop and lastly, our developed manifesto. This manifesto was created from main points taken through the readings, client work and personal perspectives on facilitation and creativity.
